Kläder

Kläder bär människan för att skydda sig mot kyla, väta eller värme men de används även som kroppsprydnad. Med kläderna kan man bland annat markera status, social tillhörighet, yrkestillhörighet eller etnisk tillhörighet, vilket samtidigt uttrycker en avgränsning från andra individer eller samhällsgrupper. Kläder kan tillverkas av olika material som läder, päls, vävtextil eller konstfibertextil. De kan vara avsedda för att bäras i ett yttre skikt eller, som underkläder, i ett skikt under gång- och ytterkläderna. I människans sätt att använda kläder blir det tydligt att modet är av stor betydelse. Modet skiftar under tidens lopp. Några grupper som markeras genom klädedräkten är:
- Nationen, genom förekomst av nationaldräkter;
- Ämbetet, genom förekomst av uniformer eller speciellt utformade arbetskläder;
- Religionen, genom religionsspecifika kläder som dok, huvudduk, burka;
- Yrket, genom yrkeskläder;
- Föreningen, genom dräkter som markerar olika rang. Kläder kan vara könsspecifika, åldersspecifika, stånds- klass- eller kastspecifika. Konfektionskläder delas in i konfektionsstorlekar. För detaljer om olika klädesplagg, se Alfabetisk lista över klädesplagg.

Bränsle

Bränsle är en substans som avger stora mängder energi vid kemiska eller nukleära processer, och som är tekniskt och ekonomiskt användbart för detta ändamål. Bränslen kan bland annat användas för lokaluppvärmning, matlagning, elektricitetsproduktion och som drivmedel.

Historik

Redan människans föregångare samlade bränslen till elden, framför allt spillning, djurfett och växtdelar. Fossila bränslen som stenkol och petroleum har använts lokalt sedan antiken, men det var först vid industrialiseringen som de fick stor ekonomisk betydelse.

Dieselolja (ofta enbart diesel), lätt brännolja,uppkallad efter motorkonstruktören Rudolf Diesel, som är avsedd som bränsle för mindre, högvarviga dieselmotorer.
